Day 1 (D)
After meeting our tour leader upon your arrival at Santa Marta’s airport, we will drive to Minca Ecohabs Hotel, an eco-friendly construction immersed in the forest that precedes the Santa Marta’s Sierra Nevada, located 14km far from Santa Marta in the town of Minca the ecological coffee capital of the Sierra Nevada. This town is a small mountain village with fresh air, numerous bird species and fabulous views. Before the night falls, we will have dinner with a view over the city of Santa Marta and the ocean.
Day 2 (B,L,D)
We will start the day in the best possible way by visiting Las Cascadas Marinka. On our way to the waterfall, we will stop at Mirador de Los Pinos a lookout where we will get a broad view over the city of Santa Marta and if the day is clear spot some of the snowy tops of La Sierra Nevada. After passing the river on various spots and have a relaxed hike under native species of Bamboo mini-forest, hear the birds singing and why not spot one or two lying on the trees, we will get to the waterfall and take some time for an invigorating bath under its waters. We will finish our morning with a visit to La Victoria Coffee Farm, one of the pioneer's farm to cultivate coffee in Colombia for over 100 years now and famous for still having in operation its beneficiary with the English industrial machinery from late nineteenth century. Afterwards, we will have lunch in the center of Minca at a place with a great view of the valley below and a fat lazy cat lingering around honoring the restaurant's name. We will get back to the hotel in time to see the sunset over the sea and enjoy a delicious dinner.
Day 3 (B,L,D)
Time for some waves. We will drive 48km, passing the Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona where the river Piedras reaches the Caribbean Sea at Los Naranjos beach. Here we find the Barlovento Hotel, an eco-friendly maloka at the top of a hill by the seaside with amazing views of both the mountains and the sea. Once settled at the hotel, we will head for some adventure at the Rio Don Diego, a river that is born from the snow in the mountains and where we can practice tubing on its clear waters. After having lunch, we will return to the hotel where you can spend the evening at leisure and enjoy the white sand beaches right in front of the house.
Day 4 (B,L,D)
Today is the turn for Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, one of Colombia’s most famous National Parks. Just 5 min by car from the hotel we reach the entrance to the park and after a 2 hours hike under the shadow of a rainforest and passing some beaches, caves and natural pools, we will find one of the most beautiful beaches Colombia has to offer to those who dare to explore it. Cabo San Juan is a beautiful cape with absolutely stunning beach lined with coconuts palm trees and a dense rainforest on the back giving way to the impressive Sierra Nevada. We will enjoy a traditional lunch here, prepared using local recipes and fresh seafood. After you have had time to swim at the warm waters of the ocean and get a little sun, we will make our way back to the park entrance where our transport will be waiting for us to take us back to the hotel for our last night and relax.
