Day 1 (D)
After meeting our tour leader upon your arrival at Bogota’s airport, we will drive to Click-Clack hotel, a high design boutique hotel located at the hip district of la 93. Depending on you arrival time, you will have a short walking introduction to the area. Before the night falls we will go for a welcome dinner at an altitude of 3125masl at San Isidro restaurant. Located at the top of Monserrate Mountain, this vintage restaurant offers an amazing view over the city at sunset.
Day 2 (B,L,D)
Get ready to explore by bike one of the most bike friendly cities in Latin America. Fully equipped bicycles will be available at the front of the hotel to start the adventure right after breakfast. We will bike across the city until we hit the Gold Museum at the city center. An English-speaking expert will guide through the largest collection of pre-colombine gold figures and reveal the best-kept secrets of our ancient cultures. Once done, we will walk some blocks along the vibrant Carrera Séptima until reaching our restaurant choice, a large colonial house with inner patio and high sealing that serves the best Ajiaco in town. After filling tanks, we will continue on a walking tour through the colonial district of La Candelaria, and see the main highlights like Plaza de Bolívar, Presidential Palace and Chorro de Quevedo. Before hopping on the bus that will take us to the dinner event at Usaquén neighborhood, we will make a stop at Callejon del Embudo to sample the famous chicha.
Day 3 (B,L,D)
Time for some fresh air from the countryside. We will drive 70km north to Guatavita, the mystic lake that gave birth to El Dorado Legend. Our guide will walk you through this natural reserve located high in the Andes (45 minutes hike) and tell you about the rituals that took place there. We will continue with lunch at a country restaurant with breathtaking view over Tominé lake. Get ready to let the sailor inside you break in because the next step is a sailing competition. We will break the group into 2 or 3 crews, and each will go with an experienced skipper on a 22 feet sailboat. We will get back to solid ground before dusk, and warm our hands by the fire and with some hot chocolate at the sailing club’s chalet. Finally, we will drive few kilometers to Estancia San Antonio. A small country hotel is hidden into the mountains with amazing home made food. Massages and sauna are available to help recover the energy.
Day 4 (B,L,D)
Today we will trade the high Andes for warmer weather. After breakfast, we will drive for about 2 hours and visit a working coffee farm with small batch productions and artisanal methods. We will walk through the thick cafetal and learn from our local guide the whole process from the seed to the cup. When the visit is finished, we will sample some coffee produced in-house and have an authentic lunch made with fresh ingredients from the garden. The adventure continues to Tobia a scenic village that has been turning into an extreme sports hub due its geographical features and the rapids of neighboring Rio Negro. Once settled at Casa de La Estación, an old train station turned into a 7 room hotel, you will decide between staying in enjoying the amazing views at the hot tub or going on a rafting adventure. That night, the hotel crew will prepare a special outdoor dinner.
Day 5 (B,L,D)
We will hit the road at about 11:00am in order to get to Bogotá right in time for lunch. Today’s menu is a fusion of local ingredients presented to you in a most creative way and cooked with an inventive and detailed hand. It will take place at the trendy loft apartment of our biologist and cook Diana Pizano, located at the vibrant neighborhood of Rosales with its distinctive streets lined with impressive old trees and its buildings with terracotta tones facades. She will walk us through an experience of exotic flavors and textures brought to you thanks to our tropical abundance.
To complement this experience, we will walk to a close-by café where we will have a guided taste of 3 different high quality Colombian coffee varieties and learn about what makes them unique. In the afternoon, you will have the option of going back to the hotel and recover some energies for what the night has in store, or going on a slow paced walking tour from the café back to the hotel where we will see the financial center, high-end gastronomic, and shopping district and up-market residential area. Dress up for the last night! We will have a dinner party at the legendary Andrés Carne de Res the bar-restaurant acclaimed by the international press which Lonely Planet described as “another worldly entertainment cocktail for its all-out-fun with spectacular steaks”.
